Prof. Dr. Andreas Harth

Chair of Technical Information
Systems
Curriculum vitae
Andreas Harth studied computer science after completing a structured comprehensive training program to qualify as a fully-trained bank clerk. He was awarded a Ph.D. from the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) at the National University of Ireland, Galway, after which he successfully concluded the habilitation process at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He held visiting teaching or research positions at the University of Heidelberg, University of Innsbruck, Stanford University and the University of Southern California. Since 2018 Prof. Harth holds the Chair of Technical Information Systems at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in combination with a department leadership position at the Fraunhofer IIS-SCS in Nuremberg.
The research interests of Prof. Harth include the development of methods and technologies for decentralised information systems, such as in the World Wide Web or Blockchain environments, as well as their deployment in enterprise settings. In numerous research projects with industry he studied the integration of data, e.g., using technologies of the Semantic Web and Linked Data, as well as the interplay between components, e.g., using process modelling languages. Applications of these methods and technologies can be found in the internet of things and the web of things as well as in industrial settings related to industry 4.0.
