Recktenwald Prize

The H.C. Recktenwald Prize

The H.C. Recktenwald Prize is one of the most renowned international prizes in economics. The foundation that awards the prize was set up at FAU by Hertha Recktenwald in 1993 in accordance with the wishes of her late husband, internationally renowned political economist and FAU researcher Prof. Dr. Horst Claus Recktenwald, who died in 1990 at the age of 70.

The foundation’s aim is to promote research in political economy. The prize is awarded to an outstanding economist once every two years. Following the Recktenwald tradition, the recipient’s submission should contain not only theoretical contributions to political economy but also contributions to solutions to problems that affect economics and society as a whole. The prize was awarded for the first time in 1995.
