Active transfer from theory to practice

Founded as a college with a strong practical focus, the School continues to be a university think-tank and a sought-after local partner in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. The School regularly collaborates with regional and national companies from all sectors, as well as associations, public institutions and non-university research institutes.

These connections enable it to conduct a large amount of application-oriented research and make it easier for research findings to be transferred to practice.

The School works closely with certain partners on exchanging data, which has helped it to become a leader in Germany in the field of microdata. Several endowed professorships and honorary professorships contribute to maintaining close connections.

Strategic partnerships

Strategic partnership: Federal Employment Agency with IAB

The Institute for Employment Research (IAB) conducts research on the labor market in order to provide professional advice for politicians at all levels. Economists, sociologists and specialists from other disciplines in the social sciences with a focus on empirical research conduct excellent research in collaboration with national and international experts that forms the basis for evidence-based labor market policy.

More information on IAB is available at www.iab.de/en/.

Strategic partnership: DATEV

DATEV eG develops software and provides IT services for tax advisors, auditors and lawyers, and their clients, many of whom are small and medium-sized companies. It is among the largest IT service providers and software companies in Europe.

Strategic partnership: Fraunhofer IIS

Established in 1995, the Fraunhofer Center for Applied Research on Supply Chain Services (SCS) investigates the complex relationships between logistics networks, their markets, processes and services in order to make supply chains quicker, better, more transparent, more profitable and – above all – more sustainable.
As a neutral research institution it takes an unbiased approach to all issues facing its customers and partners in business, trade and service industries, as well as public institutions.

More information on Fraunhofer IIS is available at www.scs.fraunhofer.de.

Strategic partnership: GfK

GfK is one of the largest market research companies in the world with around 13,000 employees who study how people live, think and consume. GfK is committed to constant innovation and intelligent solutions. It provides companies in over 100 countries with the knowledge that they need to understand the people who are most important to them: their customers.

More information on GfK is available at www.gfk.com.

Strategic partnership: Nürnberger Versicherungsgruppe

With a turnover of around 5 billion euros in the financial year 2014 and investments of over 26 billion euros, NÜRNBERGER Versicherungsgruppe is one of Germany’s leading insurance companies. It is a major provider of personal and property insurance, and a partner for many small and medium-sized companies and occupational pension schemes.

Strategic partnership: Dr. Theo und Friedl Schöller-Stiftung

Dr. Theo und Friedl Schöller-Stiftung is a foundation that has been supporting research and teaching in business studies since 2002. The funding that it devotes to this area was intensified through the establishment of the Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Center for Business and Society at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). The Center shares the foundation’s commitment to business studies and also promotes research in medicine and education – two other areas that the foundation aims to support.

More information on the foundation and the Center is available at www.schoeller-forschungszentrum.de.
