The School of Business and Economics has once again performed excellently in the Centre for Higher Education’s (CHE) current university ranking and is ranked among the best for business law, information systems, industrial engineering and management, and business studies. The CHE collects data for its university ranking once a year.
From April 27th on, the Welcome Centre will be present in Nuremberg once a week and hold office hours in a room at the School of Business and Economics. You can meet the team in Lange Gasse 20, room 4.122b, on Thursdays between 9 am and 3 pm. One of the team will be there, but as we might be on business errands (immigration office, etc.), feel free to send an email.
FAU ranks among the best 150 universities worldwide in four subject areas according to the latest QS World University Ranking published by the education information service provider Quacquarelli Symonds. In medicine, humanities, engineering, economics, natural sciences and social sciences, FAU was listed as one of the best 350 universities worldwide in twelve subjects.
FAU’s research strength and excellent teaching provides outstanding study opportunities for students from abroad. Not surprisingly, this also attracts a large number of international scientists looking for a host university for their chosen research. FAU’s Welcome Centre takes care of these foreign guest scientists and also for families traveling with these scientists.
Researchers of the School of Business and Economics have shown that algorithms based on artificial intelligence are able to make profitable investment decisions. The findings have recently been published in the European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR) – a leading outlet in the field of operational research and decision making.
Dr. Stefan Asenkerschbaumer, the deputy chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, has been appointed an honorary professor at FAU. The School of Business and Economics congratulates Professor Asenkerschbaumer on his appointment and is pleased to welcome him among his fellow honorary professors.

Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm was appointed to the scientific advisory board of the ifo Institute and the CESifo research network and was elected deputy chairwoman of the board. The ifo institute is one of the biggest economic research institutes in Germany. The Scientific Advisory Council consists of internationally respected, independent academics and experts.
Last week FAU’s University Council and President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger discussed who to appoint to the vacant position of Chancellor and came to the unanimous decision to appoint Christian Zens. In other developments, Prof. Dr. Kathrin M. Möslein will join FAU’s Executive Board immediately as the new Vice President for Research.
