University ranks fifth in Europe

Success for Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg: according to the latest ranking from the media concern Reuters, FAU is the most innovative university in Germany, and is number 5 in Europe behind KU Leuven, Imperial College London, the University of Cambridge and EPFL Lausanne.

After receiving a very respectable second place in Germany in the last three years, this year FAU made it to the very top. Only two other universities from Germany were listed in the European top ten.

The ranking from the US-Canadian media concern Reuters measures innovation on the basis of ten different factors including the number of publications, patent applications and collaborations with industry. FAU conducts research in collaboration with major international companies such as Siemens, Schaeffler and adidas. Joint projects explore issues such as renewable energies, health, medical technologies and future materials.
