FAU among top performers in QS subject ranking

Materials science and engineering among the best in the world

Materials science and engineering at FAU is once more ranked among the top 100 in the world in 2022 according to the latest QS World University Subject Ranking published by the education information service provider Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Overall FAU is rated as one of the top 250 universities worldwide for six subjects.

Materials science and engineering is FAU’s top-rated subject. It is in 95th place worldwide and 5th in Germany, cementing its excellent international reputation. Chemistry, chemical engineering and electrical engineering are ranked among the top 200, with mechanical engineering and medicine among the top 250.

Among the best in Germany

As well as materials science and engineering, chemical engineering was also ranked in 5th place within Germany, continuing the positive trend of recent years. On a national level, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering have also made it into the top 10. Among the best 20 in Germany are chemistry, medicine, mathematics, biology, pharmacy, environmental science and economics (18th place), the first time that this subject has made it into the ranking.

QS subject ranking 2022 national:

The QS Subject Ranking rated 1543 universities from all over the world. It includes categories such as academic reputation, citations per paper, and employer reputation, which is judged by asking companies for their opinions of universities.
