Professor Dr. Adrian Meier-Ernst, Chair of Communication Science at FAU WiSo, has been awarded the Early Career Scholar Award by the International Communication Association (ICA). In its laudatory statement, the ICA particularly honors Professor Meier-Ernst’s outstanding research on digital well-being. His process-oriented perspective elucidates when, how, and why digital communication affects mental well-being, thereby contributing to the theoretical integration of a previously fragmented field of research.

The quality and international visibility of his research are reflected, among other things, in numerous publications in prestigious journals in media psychology and communication science. Furthermore, the ICA commends his successful acquisition of renowned third-party funding, including an ERC Starting Grant, as well as his leadership roles within the international scholarly community. Founded in 1950, the ICA is now active worldwide, counts over 7,000 members, and is dedicated to the scientific study of interpersonal and media-mediated societal communication.
