AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and other assistive systems are becoming increasingly important in college and in the workplace. But what can these tools really do, where do they help, and where should you be careful?
The workshop “AI Tools for Students: Foundations and Practice”, taking place on Wednesday, October 19, 2026, at FAU WiSo offers an accessible introduction to the topic. It’s not about programming or technical details, but rather about using AI tools wisely, critically, and responsibly. The session will cover the different types of tools available, how to ask them good questions or give them clear instructions, how to evaluate results, and how AI can support learning, writing, and research. When is using AI helpful? When does it become problematic? How should you handle sources, data protection, and personal responsibility?
The event is open to bachelor’s and master’s students in all FAU WiSo programs. No prior knowledge or registration is required. The program will include brief explanations, illustrative examples, and a live demonstration. The goal is for students to better understand how they can productively use AI during their studies and later in their careers without compromising critical thinking and academic integrity.
