What is the degree program about?
The MBA in Sustainability Management is aimed at people who would like to take on more responsibility in the company, in the economy and in society and who want to implement sustainability in practice. Our degree program for professional development provides you with exactly the knowledge and expertise you need, alongside the required tools and the relevant implementation skills to ensure companies are developed and managed in a sustainable way.
Developed and implemented in intensive collaboration with FAU and Siemens AG, it connects the best from academia and business in a unique and innovative manner. Through the combination of theoretical knowledge transfer, strong practical orientation as well as specialization in sustainability topics, the program qualifies graduates for a successful career as a manager in the areas of sustainability management, process and project management or consulting, and offers as a basis for this the internationally recognized academic degree Master of Business Administration (MBA).
If you decide to study the MBA in Sustainability Management at FAU, you will enter into a qualification phase lasting 18 months full of intensive work, new insights and inspiring experiences.

The part-time program, comprising 60 ECTS, is offered in English and in an online format. This Master’s program combines strategic, methodological, functional, and application-oriented content into an integrative profile, encompassing the three competency clusters: „Enabling,“ „Managing,“ and „Transforming,“ each consisting of three specialized modules.
In each module, we always analyze the specific management challenges and the resulting tasks on the basis of the latest findings from science and practice and with the most suitable methods and tools. In this way, we gain a „clear view“ of the situation, can derive responsible decisions and ultimately implement successful solutions.
With our blended learning approach, we combine the advantages of distance learning with the strengths of in-person instruction. Our MBA program is 90% online, consisting of eight online modules and one on-campus module held over the course of four days at FAU in Nuremberg. We’ve developed a program design that will allow you to work and study in unison: It offers a high degree of individual flexibility, both spatially and temporally. On the one hand, it is designed as a distance learning program and can therefore be studied completely independent of location. On the other hand, approximately 2/3 of the workload can be completed asynchronously by the students. This means that 50% of each module as well as the final Master’s thesis can be completed with a certain degree of time flexibility. The remaining third of the workload is composed of the remaining 50% of each module and forms the synchronous part. This will take place in the form of live online events scheduled in an equally job- and family-friendly manner. -

- Completed Bachelor’s degree (180 ECTS credits) in economics, related subjects or other equivalent courses. Applications are also possible during the bachelor´s program.

The selection interviews will take place shortly after we receive your application. In order to guarantee the high quality of our MBA program in Sustainability Management, we have limited our places to a maximum of 25 students per year. Due to the continuing high demand, we therefore recommend that prospective students apply for our new MBA program as soon as possible. This will increase your chances of a successful application.
